HEIGHINGTON VILLAGE PRODUCE SHOW. The show this year will be on Saturday July 9th . Anybody who lives in the Civil parish of Heighington, (plus members of the gardening Club) can enter. There are classes for all sorts of things, from fruit and vegetables to handicrafts. Schedules are available from all committee members and in the Village Shops . We try to keep keep everything on a friendly basis so anyone who wishes to put something in the show will be made very welcome. We therefore intentionally keep entry fees low, and the prize monies are nominal. However there are cups and plates to be won. For those of you who would like to enter for the first time, the procedure is dead simple. 1) Obtain a Schedule, this also contains your entry form. 2) Decide what you want to enter, e.g. Flower arranging, or perhaps fruit /vegetables, and fill in the appropriate items on the entry form. 3) Get it to Rodney Jelfs, at 1 Fen Road, with your entry fee on or before Wednesday 6th July. (Entries are accepted on the day but at double fee). 4) Bring your entry to the Jubilee Hall between 8.30 and 10.30 on July 9th. That's it. [ By the way childrens entries in the children's classes are FREE, and it doesn't matter if they don't go to school in the village.] At 10.30 we close the doors, and no more entries are accepted, and at 11 o'clock everyone except the stewards leaves while the judging takes place. When 2'oclock comes we open the doors to everyone prior to the Official opening and Prize Giving at 2.30. This year the opener will be Councillor Chris Green. The Show is organised by the Gardening Club on behalf of all the Village, . This is Your Show so why not come along and support it? |
