Mentoring . . . ever thought about it?

Mentoring is sweeping the country. Ordinary people are volunteering their time to help others overcome their problems", so says a recent series on BBC2 which follows mentors helping people who are muggers and ex offenders.

The Mentoring Service specialise in unemployment mentoring and since its establishment in 2001, we have helped over 500 in Lincolnshire significantly improve their life and find work.

Volunteering to be a mentor is a challenging yet rewarding experience. Our clients can initially be unreliable, disgruntled and disengaged, but the comprehensive training programme that our mentors undergo, provides them with the perseverance and skills to harness the motivation of the client, unlocking their potential to achieve their goals.

We are currently looking for more mentors to join our existing team of volunteers help people in Lincolnshire move their lives forward. To be a mentor a person needs. to be resilient, determined, have good listening skills and have an understanding of unemployment issues.

In return you shall receive initial and ongoing training to enhance your existing communication and problem solving skills. Regular support sessions, a personal link to a co-ordinator and one to one support whilst helping a client are all provided to ensure your volunteering experience gives you satisfaction and pride.
